Carol Axten

profile

Carol holds a BCom degree in Economics and a postgraduate degree in Marketing. After graduating, she spent two years in London, gaining valuable international exposure at two leading merchant banks. On returning to South Africa, Carol furthered her career in wealth management at HSBC and Standard Private Bank. She completed her Certified Financial Planning (CFP®) certification in 2000.

In 2009, Carol joined Citadel Asset Management and then moved on to Definitive Capital Management, a boutique asset management firm focused exclusively on private clients, before joining WellsFaber in 2014.

Ray Faber

profile

Ray has spent his entire career in the financial services industry, starting at Barclays Bank in 1974. His banking career included all aspects of commercial and personal banking. In 1982, Ray joined National Acceptances as a money market and bond trader. In 1985, he and four colleagues left to form National Finance Brokers (NFB) Ltd, a national financial advisory services brokerage. Wishing to concentrate on his local clients, Ray bought the Western Cape office of NFB from his partners in 1987 and formed WellsFaber.

Jan van Niekerk

profile

Jan has almost 20 years’ experience as an investor and businessman. He previously served as the chief investment officer of Citadel, a South African private client wealth manager with a broad international reach, after which he became CEO of Peregrine Holdings, a JSE-listed financial services firm. Jan joined RECM in 2013 as an analyst, shareholder and CEO.

Greg Olbe

profile

Greg completed a BCom degree in Law and Business Management in 1997 and a BSc degree in Statistics and Computer Science in 2001. He went on to complete a Higher Certificate in Financial Markets and Instruments at the Academy of Financial Markets. In 2009, Greg received his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification. He has also completed his advanced CFP® course in Portfolio Planning and Management.

Greg joined Grant Thornton in 2006 to manage the Cape Town office, where he became a director in 2008. In 2012, a group of partners and staff from Grant Thornton Cape Town merged with Mazars Financial Services, so Greg became part of the Mazars team, which merged with WellsFaber in 2015.
